Liam Payne has shared the text he sent his father ten years ago today, after being put in One Direction.

It’s officially been a decade since Liam, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson formed the popular boyband on The X Factor back in 2010.

Taking to Instagram, Liam marked the special occasion by sharing a screenshot of the text he sent his dad on July 23rd, 2010.

In the message, the singer told his father: “Im in a boyband.”

Liam captioned the post: “What a journey… I had no idea what we were in for when I sent this text to my Dad ten years ago at this exact time the band was formed.”

“Thanks to everyone that’s supported us over the years and thanks to the boys for sharing this with me #10YearsOfOneDirection.”

The 26-year-old also shared a black-and-white photo of the fresh-faced band members.

To mark the band’s 10-year anniversary, Liam appeared on Capital Breakfast today – and revealed his favourite One Direction song.

“There’s a song called Once In A Lifetime, it’s really not one of our biggest and we’ve never performed it live or anything like that but it just really holds a special place for me,” he admitted on the show.

“It’s more in the lyrics, you know, ‘Once In A Lifetime’, everything’s just right, that moment when everything’s just quite right.”

“Being in the band at points it felt really safe and it felt a lot like that, so it’s been one for me if I’m really drunk in the Uber on the way home playing One Direction songs, that’s what I’ll listen to,” he added.

On the latest episode of Goss Chats, Ali Ryan chats to Ronan Keating about his star-studded upcoming music special, and working with Robbie Williams on a special new song dedicated to Stephen Gately.

#GossChats is sponsored by top aesthetic clinic Haus of JeJuve, which is now back open for bookings.
