Liam Payne fans honour late singer with commemorative bench in Buenos Aires cemetery

Liam Payne fans have honoured the late singer with a commemorative bench in Buenos Aires cemetery.

On October 16th, police officials confirmed that the One Direction singer had died after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Argentina.

According to reports, the 31-year-old had been acting erratically and was escorted back to his hotel room before he fell to his death from the third floor.

On Sunday, fans gathered at the British Cemetery in Buenos Aires for a ceremony where they placed flowers and a picture of the singer on the bench.

Additionally, a priest was there to give blessings to the area.

Local fans inscribed lyrics to the One Direction song “History” on the commemorative bench.

“You and me got a whole lot of history, so don’t let it go, we can make some more, we can live forever, Liam,” the inscription read.

The Daily Mail reported that 26-year-old fan Luana Bustamante said of the ceremony: “It means a lot for the fans to have a place and bench in Liam’s name here.”

“This is where Liam spent his last days in Argentina, in the chapel here which served as a refuge before he was repatriated to his native country,” she said.

The sweet tribute comes after Liam’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, revealed the “sweet tribute” she wears for her late boyfriend.

In her first television interview since his passing, Kate appeared on Lorraine as part of the new March4March campaign.

Kate spoke about a variety of subjects, including the good times she had with Liam and the negative aspects of fame and also discussed her experience dealing with his loss and her grief.

In the new interview, Kate showed off a necklace made of angel wings, which allows her to feel closer to Liam.

When asked about the necklace, she told Lorraine Kelly: “It actually is angel wings, I saw it in a little gift shop a couple of weeks ago and I feel like it spoke to me and matches my angel wing tattoos. I wear it quite often and it once again makes me feel closer to Liam.”

During the interview, Kate fought back tears as she explained why she felt drawn to the campaign.

The campaign name March4March, was significant to the influencer as she explained: “To people that aren’t too familiar with the number four, it’s mine and Liam’s angel number which symbolises love and support from angels.”

She continued: “I believe that Liam, in a weird way, guided me to this campaign and wanted me to be involved in this and to help other people. I believe that is what he would have wanted me to do.”

She added: “Everytime I see the number four, I know that he is right there with me.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Kate confessed: “I find myself talking about him so much in the present tense.”

“I don’t even feel the need to correct myself. That’s part of my healing journey. I’m still working on accepting the fact that he’s not here anymore.”

“It’s hard for me to refer to him in the past tense, and when I do refer to him in the past tense it almost stings that little bit more because… it just … it’s more official.”

She heartbreakingly confessed: “Obviously if I knew, if I could see into the future, I would never have left Argentina.”

When speaking about how she deals with the grief, Kate said: “I am trying to do my best. I have my better days, my harder days but I am surrounded by such a great support system and that has helped me so much with my healing journey, all my friends and family being supportive and helping me be productive.”

“Doing small things like yoga, going for a long walk, anything like that.”
