Katie Price promises children she’s ‘going to get better’ during emotional call from rehab

Katie Price’s ex-husband Kieran Hayler has revealed she promised their children she’s “going to get better” during an emotional phone call from rehab.

The former glamour model checked herself into The Priory this week, after she was arrested and charged for drink-driving and driving while disqualified on Tuesday morning.

The mother-of-five, who also had cocaine in her system, crashed her BMW at around 5am on Tuesday near her home in Sussex.

Speaking out about her arrest for the first time, Kieran told MailOnline: “I would never let Kate look after the children if I knew she was taking cocaine.”

“If anybody knew more, they would have stepped in to try and help sooner. She’s kept it all to herself and that’s why it’s got so bad.”

“It’s difficult to answer if she has a problem or is an addict because I don’t know. It’s not something that existed in our marriage.

“Tuesday could have been a lot worse than it was. Luckily, she wasn’t hurt and nobody else was hurt. It’s come to a point where enough is enough really,” he continued.

“It’s almost like what’s coming next and it shouldn’t be like that. I’m sure even Kate sits there and thinks ‘has this happened to me? Is this my life?'”

“A lot has happened recently, and I felt like ‘oh God, not another thing, when is the drama going to stop?’ And then I feel sad because this woman has been through a lot recently and now it’s another thing.

“How much more can somebody take before they break? If Kate carries on like this, she’s going to end up dead.”

Kieran shares two kids with Katie – Jett, 8, and Bunny, 7.

The 43-year-old is also mum to Harvey, 19, whose father is Dwight Yorke, and Junior, 16, and Princess, 14, who she shares with her first husband Peter Andre.

When asked how he’s explained Katie’s sudden absence to their children, Kieran said: “I told them mummy has been in a car accident, mummy is absolutely fine, but mummy is unwell in the head and she’s not very well, she has gone into a hospital and they’re going to make her better.”

“They don’t need to know anything else. I have been as honest as I can be with them without damaging them. It is very difficult, but I deal with it as best as I can and hopefully in the future they will look back and respect how I parented them.”

“They’re worried and upset. They have spoken to Kate now, they’re okay and they’re dealing with it okay. They made Get Well Soon mummy cards for her at school.”

“I don’t need to stress them out and confuse them about what’s going on. I answer their questions best I can.”

“Bunny asked her about what happened, and she said she was in hospital and she’s going to get better and see them really soon.”

“I spoke to her on FaceTime on Wednesday night and she’s in the best place at the moment to sort herself out,” Kieran said.

“Kate said she will be speaking to the children most days from The Priory, and I hope she will get better and the help she needs.”
