Kate Middleton looks radiant in red as she returns to special event for the first time since cancer treatment

Kate Middleton looked radiant in red as she returned to the annual Commonweath Day service at Westminster Abbey for the first time since her cancer treatment.

The Princess of Wales and her father-in-law King Charles were both forced to miss last year’s service, as they were undergoing treatment for their respective cancers at the time.

In videos shared online, Kate looked happy and healthy as she arrived alongside her husband Prince William.

The 43-year-old re-wore her red tie coat by Catherine Walker for the occasion, which she paired with a hat by Gina Foster, and a pearl embellished choker with matching earrings.

The couple were welcomed by Dr David Hoyle, Dean of Westminster, ahead of the arrival of the King and Queen.

King Charles and Queen Camilla then arrived, with the Queen Consort wearing a pink coat dress by Fiona Clare and pink beret hat by Irish milliner Philip Treacy.

In March 2024, the Princess of Wales announced that she was undergoing treatment for cancer, which was discovered after she underwent abdominal surgery that January.

After receiving chemotherapy for many months, the 43-year-old confirmed that she’s in remission in January 2025.

She wrote: “I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year. My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything. We couldn’t have asked for more.”

“The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.”

“In my new role as Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden, my hope is, that by supporting groundbreaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we might save many more lives, and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer.”

“It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead.”

“There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support,” she wrote at the time.
