Jesy Nelson’s documentary Odd One Out has broken TWO BBC records

The feature documentary had more than 3 million views in one week

Jesy Nelson’s documentary Odd One Out has broken not one, but two, BBC viewing records.

The documentary focuses on the relentless cyber-bullying Jesy faced after winning The X-Factor in 2011.

Commissioned by BBC Three, the emotional feature heard first-hand accounts of the effects the bullying had on the now 28-year-old pop star.

Airing earlier this month on September 12th, it was the most popular programme on the BBC iPlayer on the week of it’s release.

According to the BBC, there were 1.87 million requests within seven days.

It also drew 3.3 million viewers within the first 7 days of its release.

A rep for the BBC said: “I am so pleased that Jesy Nelson’s film has resonated so powerfully with audiences”.

“This film and others in the Mental Health season earlier this year are part of our ongoing commitment to tackling mental health issues and we know that they make a real difference to those going through similar experiences, with many more people opening up and contacting mental health charities.”

“My huge thanks to Jesy for having the courage to share her story and to all the production team for making such an important film.”
