Jessica Cunningham has announced the birth of her fourth child, after suffering a heartbreaking miscarriage last year.
The Apprentice star referred to the newborn as her “rainbow baby”, a term used by parents who have experienced a loss, either through miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death.
Jessica and her current partner Alex Daw lost their baby last year, just two months after her ex-partner Alistair Eccles, who is the father of her three eldest daughters, took his own life.
Taking to Instagram, Jessica posted a photo of her baby’s tiny fist, and wrote, “We have in fact welcomed our beautiful little rainbow baby into the world and it’s as if they were always meant to be here.”
“Before every rainbow there is always a storm and our storm over the past year has left us with THE most beautiful little view,” she continued.
“We are all doing well, but for now, I probably won’t be on here for a few days as I am going to take a little bit of time to just enjoy my wonderful little family and also social media is a job in itself, and I am already quite sleep deprived, so any spare minutes are spent snoozing. Wish me luck on being a mama of 4,” she added.
Last year, Jessica revealed her heartbreak after suffering a miscarriage, and opened up to her followers in an emotional blog post.
“Just like that, it was gone. That was the most painful part of it, only three days earlier it read pregnant and now it was gone,” she wrote.
“I felt like my body was broken as well as my mind. I questioned why, why did this have to happen, what is the Universe trying to tell me. What lesson does the universe want me to take from this?
“What was the purpose of this pregnancy, surely there had to be one? I felt humiliated telling my friends that I had miscarried as only a few days before I had told them I was pregnant. I wondered if it was something that I did, or if I could have prevented it.”
