Jason Donovan opens up on how family life saved him from his ‘demons’

The 80's heart throb used to struggle with drugs

Former Neighbours actor Jason Donovan has opened up on how his happy family life saved him from his “demons”.

“I had a lot of demons in my life. There comes a point in your life when its time to move on. I had the birth of my daughter Gemma and that was an opportunity to change.

“The story had finished, it got a little bit boring really. The story being drugs. It’s just like a circle after a period of time, it goes nowhere.”

The 48-year-old has three children with his wife Angela Malloch.

Speaking to Ryan Tubridy on The Late Late Show, the singer said, “I’m lucky enough to be one of those people to look back and know what they don’t want to do in their life.

“You have to change yourself. Someone can lead you to therapy, but if you don’t want to go, you’re only going to find a way out. It was a natural progression for me.

“[Fatherhood] changed my life, and I’m very grateful for that. I have three wonderful children and a wonderful wife and a great career.”
