Jamie Laing says he will not fall under the ‘Strictly Come Dancing curse’

Jamie Laing has said he will not fall under the “Strictly Come Dancing curse”, which has seen celebrities on the show become romantically involved with their dance partners.

The Made In Chelsea star was announced for the line-up of the upcoming series earlier this week, after he was forced to drop out of the competition last year due to a leg injury.

Jamie has insisted that his girlfriend Sophie Habboo has nothing to worry about, as he prepares to dance alongside a professional dancer on the show.

“I am being asked all the time about the Strictly curse and do you know poor Sophie had no clue about this whole curse thing,” he told The Mirror.

“She had no idea that everyone couples up when they do Strictly Come Dancing.

“But hey listen, I don’t think I am a bad guy so I don’t think it will be too bad in the end.

“I am not going to kiss my dancer. It is not like I am going to be some magnet, you know? I don’t think the dancer is going to come anywhere near me.”

Jamie joined the line-up on Thursday alongside Eastenders star Maisie Smith, comedian Bill Bailey, and presenter JJ Chalmers.

The line-up also includes YouTube star HRVY, The Wanted star Max George, Good Morning Britain presenter Ranvir Singh, BBC Radio 1’s Clara Amfo, actress Caroline Quentin, and former NFL player Jason Bell.

World champion boxer Nicola Adams has also joined the line-up, and is set to make history by being a part of the show’s first same-sex couple.

Strictly Come Dancing is set to return to BBC One this Autumn.
