James Argent has addressed the fat-shaming comments he made about Gemma Collins during their split.
The reality star called his ex a “fake joke of a woman” in shocking texts during their recent split and has now addressed the hateful comments.
“It showed a very one-sided version of events, which wasn’t fair. In my opinion, a row between a couple should remain private and to be made public,” he told OK! Magazine.
“It’s embarrassing and it makes a joke of our relationship. Gemma has been really upset by it and feels guilty about what’s happened,” he added.
James said that he regrets sending the messages and that “they were sent in the heat of the moment.”
“We were having a huge row because she was angry with me for posting the video of her snoring on social media. She’d kicked me out of her flat and things got nasty between us.”
“I deeply regret what I said but Gemma gave as good as she got. We both said some very nasty, hurtful things to each other,” he continued.
The 31-year-old said that he loves Gemma and admitted that he shouldn’t be fat shaming anyone: “I’m ashamed of what I said to Gemma – I love her with all my heart. I have problems with my own weight so I’m the last person who should be trying to fat shame.”
The TOWIE star also revealed that he wants to try couples therapy if he gets back together with the 38-year-old: “We haven’t spoken about it but I think it would be good for us to have some couples counselling if we do get back together.”
