Game of Thrones star Kit Harington speaks out about toxic masculinity

Game of Thrones star, Kit Harington, has spoken out about toxic masculinity.

The actor has stated that the many ‘macho’ male characters portrayed in film and television give young boys the idea that they need to act a certain way in order to be respected by others.

“I feel personally, quite strongly, at the moment — where have we gone wrong with masculinity?” he told The Sunday Times.

“What have we been teaching men when they’re growing up, in terms of the problem we see now? What’s innate and what’s taught?” he continued.

“What is taught on TV, and in the streets, that makes young boys feel they have to be this certain side of being a man?” the 31-year-old asked.

“I think that’s really one of the big questions in our time — how do we change that? Because clearly something has gone wrong for young men,” the actor concluded.
