This is the FIRST One Direction member to be signed with Simon Cowell

Louis Tomlinson is the first member from One Direction to sign a record deal with Simon Cowell.

The former 1D singer is the first and only member from the band to have singed a solo deal with Simon since he first signed the boy band to his label Syco Records in 2011.

Speaking to The Sun, the singer said, “I’m very happy to have signed. I’m excited to be continuing my relationship with Syco, and also working with the brilliant team at RCA in the US.”

“I’ve been working really hard in the studio and can’t wait to show you what I’ve been writing. As always, I’d like to thank the fans for their unbelievable support,” the 25-year-old continued.

Tomlinson performed his debut solo single Just Hold On, which was a collaboration with producer and DJ Steve Aoki, on The X Factor last December.

The Metro reported that a Syco label insider said, “They have worked together very closely in the past 18 months on various projects, so staying loyal was a no-brainer for him”.

Speaking previously about the other boys solo careers, Simon said, “I hear so many things now, which they’re doing, which I’m not involved with.”

“It’s a bit like I’m getting the hint you don’t want me to come to the party. Sorry for making you famous.”

Louis has been teasing details of his solo material on social media, which is expected to be released soon.
