Sir Elton John has warned his pal Ed Sheeran that his fame won’t last forever.

The 71-year-old had some words for Ed as he spoke about the Galway Girl singer’s career.

Speaking on George Ezra’s podcast, Elton revealed that you may have numerous number one singles, but that someone else will always take over the spot.

“Ed will go through that and I’ve talked to him about it, I’ve said, There’ll come a time where this won’t happen every time and you have to accept that,” Elton said.

Elton seemed annoyed as he discussed Ed’s songs still being on the charts in America.

“On the American radio chart, which is the middle-of-the-road chart, Ed is still No.1 and Shape Of You is still in the chart.

“It’s like, ‘Why? How many times do you want to listen to these things?'”

According to the Daily Mail, Elton acted as a mentor for Ed when he was first starting out.

The father of two also discussed celebrity culture and admitted that you were either successful back then or not.

“Now with the word celebrity you can be someone off Love Island, I don’t know who they are,” the singer added.

Elton announced this year that he would be retiring to focus on spending more time with his sons.
