Ed Westwick will not be charged for the rape allegations that were made against him last year.
Fellow actor Kristina Cohen accused him of rape in November 2017 saying on Facebook that she fell asleep after a dinner with Westwick and her boyfriend, and woke to discover the Gossip Girl actor on top of her.A
Aurélie Wynn, a former actor, also came forward and despite providing witnesses, prosecutors said they have insufficient evidence to proceed with the charges.
A third accuser’s trial won’t be going ahead due to her “unavailability”.
Prosecutors in LA said in a memo, “Those witnesses were not able to provide information that would enable the prosecution to prove either incident beyond a reasonable doubt.”
“Prosecution on those two incidents is declined due to insufficient evidence.”
Allegations of unwanted touching were also made against him but these accusations fell outside of the statute of limitations.
Westwick posted about the incidents on Instagram at the time saying, “I have never forced myself in any manner, on any woman.”
“I certainly have never committed rape,” he maintained.
