EastEnders star Samantha Womack gives update after breast cancer surgery

EastEnders star Samantha Womack has revealed she is recovering from breast cancer surgery.

The actress, who played Ronnie Mitchell in the popular soap, announced her diagnosis last week, in light of Olivia Newton-John‘s passing.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, the 49-year-old confirmed that she was back home after the surgery and being cared for by her boyfriend Oliver Farnworth.

Sharing a photo of her soup, Samantha wrote: “Recuperating after breast cancer op. My love makes me turmeric and ginger in the morning and homemade butternut squash soup in the evening… #feeling loved and grateful ❤️❤️❤️”

The actress received an outpouring of love and support from her friends and fans.

All Saints singer Nicole Appleton commented: “Sending you so much love❤️xx,” while Denise Van Outen said, “Sending you massive love ❤️”

British gymnast Aicha McKenzie wrote, “Oh darling sending love and healing vibes xxx,” and Samantha’s EastEnders co-star Tamzin Outhwaite said, “sending lots of love and positive energy. xx”

Samantha announced her breast cancer diagnosis on August 9, while paying tribute to the late Olivia Newton-John.

Alongside a photo of her and the Grease star, the 49-year-old tweeted: “This was the most magical of evenings. Olivia and Chloe had come to see Grease in London and we had dinner together afterwards. I was so excited and in awe, she was my childhood.”

“I now start my own battle with this disease and am left feeling deeply moved,” she added.
