Eamonn Holmes shares exciting news live on This Morning

Eamonn Holmes has revealed he has become a granddad for the first time.

The 61-year-old shared the exciting news on ITV’s This Morning, revealing his daughter-in-law welcomed a baby girl.

The popular presenter told viewers: “My son Declan and his wife Jenny, they’re the happy couple. Jenny gave birth to Amelia, who is 7lbs and 6 ounces. That’s my first grandchild, my mother is a great grandmother.”

Eamonn shares three children with his ex-wife Gabrielle, who he was married to until 2005.

The broadcaster also shares a son with his current wife Ruth Langsford, who he co-presents This Morning with.

On Tuesday morning’s show, Ruth asked: “What are you going to be, gramps, grandad? Grumps we came with up, didn’t we? But he didn’t seem too keen on that one.”

Eamonn replied: “It surprises me because people come up to me and say, ‘He’s too young to be a grandfather.’ I’ve got people getting in touch with me about glamorous grandad competitions and all kinds of things like that but my friend Bill has anointed himself Papa.”

Eamonn announced the news that his son and daughter-in-law were expecting a baby on air in April.

At the time, Eamonn said: “Declan is my eldest boy, he’s 32 years of age and that is Jenny, his beloved wife.”

“They have just announced that I, together with Valerie and Robyn, Jenny’s mum and dad, and Gabrielle, Declan’s mummy, we’re all gonna be grandparents which means I’m a granddad.”

He continued: “I don’t know if it’s a boy of girl – we don’t want to know – we just want you to be healthy and happy and thank you for bringing so much joy and happiness into our lives at this very miserable time.”
