Eamonn Holmes set to leave This Morning after 15 years for new hosting job

Eamonn Holmes is set to leave This Morning after 15 years, according to a new report.

The Mirror has reported that the 61-year-old is walking away from the programme to host his own show on GB News.

A source said: “Eamonn’s move to GB News marks the end of an era. He’ll be missed by many ITV viewers but, the truth is, this job offer probably came at just the right moment for both him and ITV. All good things come to an end.”

Up until last December, Eamonn and his wife Ruth Langsford hosted This Morning every Friday.

The couple held onto the role for 14 years, before ITV announced that they would be replaced by Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond in January 2021.

At the time, Eamonn and Ruth reassured fans they would still be a part of the show, as they would fill in for main hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield when they took holidays.

But now, it looks like Eamonn is ready to say goodbye to the programme for good.

GB News has suffered a number of set-backs since it launched earlier this year, including technical issues and the departure of its chairman Andrew Neil.

It’s current presenters include former BBC journalist Simon McCoy, ex-Sky host Kirsty Gallacher, politician Nigel Farage and former ITV News presenter Alastair Stewart.

Goss.ie has contacted Eamonn’s rep for a comment.
