The Love Island star lost his little brother last week

Dr Alex George has updated fans on how he’s doing – after his younger brother’s shock death.

The Love Island star announced the death of his brother Llyr last week, following a battle with his mental health.

Taking to Instagram last night, Alex told fans he will “be OK”, but it will take time for him to get over the loss.

He wrote: “So many of you are checking in on me so I want to say thank you and let you know I am still going. In time I will be ok.”

Alex announced Llyr’s death last Friday by sharing a photo of him and his younger brother on Instagram.

“I can’t believe I am actually writing this post. I have lost my beautiful little brother to mental health,” he captioned the photo.

“I love you so much Llŷr. The kindest and most caring soul. I was so proud of you starting medical school next month, you would have been the most incredible doctor.”

“We are hurting so bad. No words can explain,” he continued. “As a family we are devastated. We love you and miss you so much. Please rest in peace x Our boy.”

“Thank you for all the messages of kindness here and to my phone,” he thanked his followers.

“I am incredibly grateful of the support and it means so much. I am sorry that I can’t reply yet. I need to try and process what has happened somehow.”

Alex has had an extremely tough year, as he’s been working on the frontline in an A&E department in London during the coronavirus pandemic.

The 30-year-old also recently split from his girlfriend Amelia Bath.

On the latest episode of Goss Chats, Goss.ie CEO Ali Ryan chats to Alan Hughes about life during the coronavirus pandemic.

The TV presenter admits working on Ireland AM has been a “life saver” over the past few months, and opens up about his fears over the future of his Cheerios Panto.

Goss Chats is sponsored by top aesthetic clinic Haus of JeJuve.
