Curtis Pritchard appears to take swipe at ex Maura Higgins as he describes his ‘type’

Curtis Pritchard has appeared to take a swipe at his ex-girlfriend Maura Higgins.

The former couple split in March 2020, just seven months after they struck up a romance on the 2019 series of Love Island.

The ballroom dancer has turned to another dating show in the hopes of finding love, appearing on the latest series of Celebs Go Dating.

Speaking to The Sun, the 24-year-old described his “type” as being a blonde, despite Maura’s brunette locks.

He said: “Ever since being on Love Island I do think my type is blonde hair, a very athletic figure and just a very natural and bubbly personality, really.”

The reality star went on to say: “Somebody that really appreciates others. A real-life lady, because let’s be honest, Instagram models, are they how they look on Instagram?

“Sometimes they are, sometimes they’re not. If you want the honest truth, put it mildly. In the most inoffensive way, that is, I hate to say it but that is one of my reasons why I hate Instagram.

“It’s an incredible platform, you can do so much on it, but a lot of people edit what they look like. People create perhaps what they want to look like, but it’s not healthy for young people looking at that, because they don’t look like that themselves and never will.

“These kids want to look like that, but that’s not real because it’s been edited. It’s a vicious game, really.”

Curtis previously told the publication that he “cried” while discussing his split from Maura while chatting with the Celebs Go Dating relationship experts.

He confessed: “I cried, because I hadn’t spoken to anybody about the Maura situation before.

“To talk openly and freely was a breath of fresh air. It was nice to be able to speak with people I felt safe talking about it with.”

Maura has since moved on with Chris Taylor, who’s close friendship after the Love Island villa blossomed into a romantic relationship.

The couple confirmed their romance in November, and at the time, Curtis said he felt “hurt and betrayed” by them.

Curtis said: “I feel betrayed by them both — two people I was very close to. When I saw the pictures, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel hurt.

“I was upset. How long has this truly been going on for? They said they would never ever be together, and here they are.

“If I bump into them, I’ll just say congratulations and I hope it really does turn out to be ‘the one’.”
