Amy Hart insists Love Island was ‘the best thing she’s ever done’ for her mental health

Amy Hart has insisted that Love Island was “the best thing she’s ever done” for her mental health.

The former airhostess appeared on the hit dating show back in 2019, where she famously left the villa following her split from Curtis Pritchard.

The 29-year-old was offered therapy by the aftercare team after her heartbreak, which she says has completely turned her life around.

Speaking to The Sunday Mirror, Amy said: “Everyone says, ‘Is Love Island the worst thing you’ve ever done for your mental health?'”

“And I say, no, it’s actually the best thing I’ve ever done for my mental health because I would never, ever have had those tools. I would never have known anything was wrong.”

“I suffer with anxiety but I didn’t know until Love Island. After I found out my brain is like, ‘You’re not good enough, you’re a failure, you’re ugly’, I have been able to completely turn my life around, thanks to the ITV aftercare team.”

“You have the welfare girls call you periodically, and you have as much therapy as you need. When I finished my therapy journey, she said, ‘This isn’t closing the door with ITV. If you need therapy, ITV will always support you.'”

Love Island bosses introduced pre-show training and after-show therapy following the tragic deaths of former contestants Sophie Gradon and Mike Thalassitis – who both died by suicide.

The show is set to make a comeback this summer, after it was cancelled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
