Yasmine Akram proves she's MORE than Sherlock's girlfriend – as she lands role in new UK sitcom

She quickly rose to fame thanks to her role as Sherlock’s Irish girlfriend in BBC drama Sherlock, and now Yasmine Akram has landed another big role.

The Drogheda actress has been signed up for Undercover, a six-part comedy series for UK TV station Dave.

The comedy is the first ever original sitcom from Dave, and is described as “an action comedy about a hapless police officer on a covert operation to infiltrate an Armenian crime family.”

The series comes from independent company Baby Cow, whose credits include The Trip, Moone Boy and Gavin & Stacey.

Yasmine has had a good year in her career, also starring in RTE comedy The Centre.

But it was her role alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in Sherlock that set her on the path to stardom.

After starring in the award winning series Yasmine also landed a role in Sky series Stella.
