X Factor's Janet Grogan inundated with 'mean' comments about her weight after show

Irish X Factor star Janet Grogan has told how she’s been forced to adapt a thick skin after online taunts about her appearance.

The Dublin singer was eliminated from the show by her mentor Simon Cowell during the brutal six chair challenge last weekend.

And Janet revealed it caused her to be inundated with a number of horrible comments on Twitter – but has vowed to “ignore them and get on with life.”

She said: “You have to take the good with the bad. Comments about my weight and appearance, or I’m not that good of a singer – which is fine.

“It’s just the comments about my appearance are a bit mean. For every bad comment there are 10 positive ones so you just have to ignore them and get on with life.”

And Janet insisted that she is still glad she auditioned despite being axed in such a horrible way.

She said: “I’m really happy with the experience, Obviously the six chair challenge is really brutal. I think if I was younger I don’t know how I would have handled it.

“But because I’ve been through disappointments before I was okay. I had a little cry, but I was okay. It was the best decision I’ve ever made to go and do it.

No idea: Janet has revealed she doesn’t know if she will be back on the show | ITV

“I wouldn’t have changed anything I did, It’s just unfortunate the way it turned out. It was great, they do get a bad rep about the way they treat people but they treated us like royalty – I can’t say enough good things.”

But the 26-year-old said she knows nothing about rumours circulating that she will be taken back onto the show as a wildcard, adding: “I honestly, don’t know. They don’t tell you anything.”

Now Janet has vowed to continue with trying to make it in the music industry.

She told RTE Radio 1: “I want to start gigging, keep writing with people and just grow as an artist and try to do what I love. I couldn’t get gigs before. Nobody would listen to me, so maybe now they will.”
