UK bound! Damo & Ivor director is bringing the RTE comedy abroad

It’s a smash hit in Ireland, and now the people behind Damo & Ivor want to bring the show to the UK.

Director of the series Rob Burke has said he thinks the comedy show could be just as big as Mrs Brown’s Boys in England.

“I’d love for Damo & Ivor to go to the UK and everywhere else. That would be my dream,” he said.

“Because if it’s that big here, why can’t it be that big in the UK? Mrs. Brown’s Boys went everywhere, for example.”

“There’s no reason it shouldn’t because at heart, it’s a very primal story about these two brothers that have spent their life apart and are getting to know each other.”

“It has heart, it’s about family,” Rob told IFTN.ie.

Meanwhile creator and star of the show Andy Quirke said viewers can expect a lot of change in the second series.

“The show has changed in this series even more than before,” he said.

“If you were to take the hat off Damo, and the shirt away from Ivor, it can almost go very close to real life. It is exaggerated but there’s more drama.”

Damo & Ivor returns to RTE Two tonight at 10pm
