TV3 hit out at rival station RTE for trying to 'kill' their new soap Red Rock

TV3 have claimed RTE deliberately switched around the broadcast of Operation Transformation, so it would go up against Red Rock.

The new soap is already a huge hit with over 320,000 people viewing in from the get go, however popular programme Operation Transformation is now airing at the same time as the soap.

Hosted by Kathryn Thomas, the series used to take place Tuesday and Wednesday nights, but now the series airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays at the same time as Red Rock.

Ratings war: TV3 have accused RTE of going up against Red Rock

“RTE have done everything they can to kill Red Rock,” a TV3 spokeswoman said.

“They deliberately scheduled Operation Transformation to those slots when they found out what nights Red Rock was running,” she told the Irish Sun.

However RTE insisted that their programmes are moved around all the time and claimed Red Rock wasn’t that much of a success.

“Operation Transformation was rescheduled last season as well. We split the show into two half hour episodes instead of one hour long edition,” an RTE spokesperson said.

“But this doesn’t explain why Red Rock got 320,000 viewers on the first night it aired, and lower numbers since,” they added.
