TV chef Rachel Allen reveals she finds it tough dealing with hateful viewers

Celebrity chef Rachel Allen has opened up about dealing with the negative aspects of fame.

The Cork native has revealed that some people are “quite offensive” and she does get upset by people who don’t like her.

“It can also be quite offensive when people think they know you and have a go,” she admitted.

“Just the other day I was told that someone hated me because of the way I speak.”

“People don’t realise how hurtful that can be. I believe that it’s nice to be nice.”

“I was brought up to treat others the way you would like to be treated yourself,” she told the RTE Guide.

Luckily for Rachel, most of her interactions with the public have been positive ones.

“Mostly, people are very nice. It’s lovely when people stop me on the street to say how much they loved the show or the book.”

Meanwhile, the busy mum also revealed it can be tough trying to juggle motherhood with a successful career.

“Being a working mother can be a struggle,” she said.

“Fortunately, I have my husband Isaac who helps me with that role of having someone at home.”

“I hope I’m managing it and I believe I have good work-life balanced children. But I love being a mum, I really do.”
