Bosses of The Voice of Ireland have denied claims they offered Sharleen Spiteri a chance to be on the red chair.
Show chiefs revealed they did ‘check’ on the Scotswoman but they made many enquiries about other artists who could of potentially filled the role.
TV bosses were on a hunt this year for new coaches after Dolores O’Riordan and Jamelia left the hit RTE show.

However, Sharleen wasn’t the only candidate approached for the talent programme as Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts also made the show’s long list.
Filling the two seats, producers went for pop heavy-weights S Club 7’s Rachel Stevens and The Saturdays Una Foden.
