The Restaurant star Tom Doorley was rushed to hospital with two broken shoulders after a car knocked him down.
The RTE food critic was taken by ambulance to St James’s Hospital last Thursday night following the accident in Dublin city centre.
He said: “Both shoulders fractured. Brilliant trauma team at St James’s. I got hit by a car crossing the street.”
Now Tom will be unable to attend the launch of the new season of The Restaurant today – which has moved to TV3 after nearly 10 years with RTE.

However sources said that they expect Tom to be well enough to take part in The Restaurant on TV3 next year – which stars including Gerald Kean took part in on RTE.
But critic Tom has tried to keep positive after he was moved to Blackrock Clinic for treatment.
He added: “Just concentrating on getting better and counting blessings. Lovely view of Dublin Bay from my bed in Blackrock Clinic. Super care. First op tomorrow.”
And Tom said: “My new motto is Take All the Drugs. My care team really know best! Next time I slow roast a shoulder of lamb, I shall do so with extra anatomical interest. Bah!
“It’s all go. Detailed examination by my second consultant, lunch and supper menus brought, then first physio. Good old Blackrock.”
