The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air set for ‘gritty’ reboot

The show's original star Will Smith is involved in the new project

The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air is set to be rebooted as a gritty new drama.

The hard-hitting reboot was reportedly inspired by a four-minute mock trailer that went viral last year, which was created by super fan Morgan Cooper.

According to US media reports, Will Smith decided to team up with Morgan to adapt the original sitcom, after he watched the mock trailer.

The series, which will be called Bel-Air, is reportedly going to be a co-production between Smith’s Westbrook Studios and the original producers Universal TV.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Peacock, Netflix and HBO Max are among streamers already bidding on the potential series.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air ran for six seasons from 1990-1996.
