The best movies and TV shows coming to Amazon Prime Video this week

Another week of lockdown means another week of binge-watching, and Amazon Prime Video are adding plenty to keep us entertained.

From a documentary on two of the biggest sports stars in the world, to a romantic drama starring Cate Blanchett, here’s our top picks of flicks joining the platform this week.

Carol

Set in 1950s New York, a department-store clerk who dreams of a better life falls for an older, married woman.

This romantic drama stars Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Sarah Paulson, Jake Lacy and Kyle Chandler – and is based on the novel The Price of Salt by Patricia Highsmith.

Carol will join the streaming platform on April 20th.

Merantau 

Merantau is a 2009 Indonesian martial arts action film about a young man from the countryside who uses his skills in silat martial arts to survive the slave trade.

The film is set to join Amazon Prime Video on the 21st of April.

The Hero Of Color City

This film follows the adventures of a diverse band of crayons, as they strive to protect not only their magical homeland but the imagination of children everywhere from a terrifying monster.

The animated film will join the streaming giant on April the 21st.

Venus And Serena 

This film tells the story of professional tennis players Venus and Serena Williams, who have triumphed under impossible circumstances.

The documentary offers an intimate look into the lives of two of the biggest sports stars of the world, showing their lives both on and off the courts as both battle health problems and media controversy.

Venus and Serena will join Amazon Prime Video on April 21st.
