TG4’s Hector Ó hEochagáin ‘lucky to be alive’ after filming new show

Hector Ó hEochagáin has admitted that he has been near death while filming in some of the most dangerous places in world.

The Navan native has travelled to Panama, Costa Rica, Nicuragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, and finished filming on the Caribbean coast in Belize.

“We were lucky to come out of there alive,” he said.

The radio host compared some of the places he’s been to the Netflix show Narcos – a story based around a drug kingpin surrounded by violence and deceit.

“Have you ever seen Narcos?” he asked RTE Entertainment.

“This is Pablo Escobar country. This is jungle country.

“This is Sandanistas, revolutionaries, bloody feuds, political corruption, police corruption, all types.”

The broadcaster’s new show Hector Central is set to air this autumn on TG4.
