Survival Of The Fittest has been axed by ITV, after just one series.

The show, which was fronted by Irish presenter Laura Whitmore, was set in South Africa, and saw a host of attractive singletons pitted against one another in a fight for survival.

The series was aimed to please Love Island fans, but unfortunately, SOTF failed to impress viewers.

A spokesperson for ITV told MailOnline: “There are no current plans for a further series of Survival Of The Fittest.”

“It was an ambitious and brilliantly produced show and we’d like to thank Laura, Brennan and all the team who worked on it.”

The show briefly starred Dani Dyer, but the brunette was injured in a task at the start, and was subsequently sent home.

However, the unfortunate incident led to a better gig for Dani, as she landed a spot on Love Island just six months later – and ended up winning the series alongside her now-boyfriend Jack Fincham.
