Strictly bosses hire extra security – after stars received death threats

Strictly Come Dancing bosses have had to take more measures to keep this year’s stars safe on the show.

The team behind the BBC series have eportedly hired ex-army security guards to protect contestants this year.

Apparently several stars received death threats, so security had to be increased during filming at Elstree in North London on Saturday.

This Saturday the stars took to the fence floor for the first time with their new partners.

According to the The Sun on Sunday, ex-army staff were surrounding the Studios as the celebs arrived to film the live show.

While the stars under threat haven’t been identified, sources said the “sinister” letters were received.

Contestants are now also banned from posting photos in training in case they give away their location, and code names are being used backstage.

“Each year celebs get letters but this year there have been a few stand-out, deeply sinister ones which were flagged to the in-house team,” a source told the publication.

“Security were alerted and a concerted effort made to bump up protection.

” This includes the hiring of an external company made up mainly of ex-military personnel, and a weekly briefing ahead of the live show.”
