Simon Cowell is set to rival his X-Factor prodigies Little Mix by launching a brand new talent show in 2020.
News of X-Factor: The Band comes after Little Mix announced they would be hosting a new talent scouting show.
Little Mix – The Search is set to be launched on the BBC next year, while Simon’s show will most likely be on ITV.
Speaking in an interview with The Sun, Simon says he was approached to co-produce Little Mix’s show.
“This is what really happened. I was approached to co-produce that show last year by Little Mix’s management.”
“I told them the problem was we have a conflict of interest because we are launching X Factor The Band in 2020. We were told their show was going to launch in 2021,” he explained.
“Then we had the fallout and find out Little Mix were bringing their show forward. Was that intentional because we are doing our show? I have no idea.”
Simon says the rival show makes things “100 per cent” more exciting.
“But regardless, it was too much fun not to do this year. I would rather it was us doing it first.”
“It 100 per cent makes it more exciting there being a battle.”
Little Mix won The X-Factor in 2011 under the mentorship of music mogul Simon Cowell.
Last year, news broke that after 7 years under Simon’s music label, Syco, Little Mix’s management company Modest, would be parting ways with the label.
