Ryan Tubridy listed as RTE’s top earner

Ryan Tubridy has raked in a massive €495,000 for his broadcasting work in 2014.

The TV presenter brought in the biggest cash pile in Montrose hosting the Late Late Show and his weekday radio show.

The figure comes after it was revealed almost €1.8million was paid to RTE’s top five presenters in 2014.

Joe Duffy placed second on the list of RTE’s top earners

Figures released under the Freedom of Information Act to the Irish Mirror showed the state broadcaster’s biggest earners also included Joe Duffy, Marian Finucane, Sean O’Rourke and Miriam O’Callaghan.

Placing second in the highest-earner stakes was Joe Duffy, who was paid €416,893 for his radio show, while Marian Finucane pocketed €295,000 for her RTE Radio 1 weekend slot.

Coming in fourth was radio star Sean O’Rouke with a salary of over €290,000, while broadcaster Miriam with a salary of €280,000.

Despite the major salaries, the top five presenters are categorised as contractors not RTE staff so their fee is negotiated separately with TV chiefs and was reported earlier this year to be 40% down in 2014 then 2008.
