RTÉ’s celebrity wish list for series two of Dancing With the Stars has been revealed

Miriam O’Callaghan has topped RTÉ’s celebrity wish list for series two of Dancing With The Stars.

The dancing show has gone down a hit with viewers so far, and RTÉ are already planning for a second series as they received their highest ratings yet on Sunday night with an average of 646,100 viewers tuning in.

“They want to try and get a really big RTE star for next year, the likes of Miriam O’Callaghan would be ideal,” a source told the Herald.

“Miriam likes the dresses, she loves a bit of glam and she never says no to anything really. Miriam is always willing to help out and try something new.”

“She does radio, she does TV. She does chat shows, she does it all, so she could well give Dancing With The Stars a whirl,” the source said.

Meanwhile, the state broadcaster and Shinawil are hoping to bag another big sports personality next year, as GAA player Aidan O’Mahony has proven popular on the show.

“They have somebody from the Kingdom this year and they’ll be looking to match the old rivalry between Dublin and Kerry so a Dublin footballer is what they’re looking for next,” the source said.

While they’re on the hunt for footballers, they wouldn’t say no to some Irish rugby stars either.

“The likes of Paul O’Connell and Luke Fitzgerald, they are looking at people like that because they know they will bring in the viewers.”

Meanwhile, Hughie Maughan was the first celebrity to be eliminated from DWTS on Sunday night.
