The show's future is in jeopardy

RTE has spoken out about the future of their show, Republic of Telly.

It was rumoured that the sketch show was next on the station’s chopping board – and it appears the rumours may be true.

“No decision has been made yet on whether Republic of Telly will be returning to RTE2 in the spring,” a statement from the broadcaster read.

Trouble: RTE have said that they will review Republic Of Telly’s performance over the last season | RTE

There have been a lot of fears for RTE’s popular shows, like Fair City and Republic Of Telly, to be axed from the station – and some staff have threatened to protest which has put the coveted Late Late Toy Show this week in jeopardy.

“As is common practice for all our shows, we will review it’s performance this season and over the coming will make a decision on whether to re-commission it for another series in 2017,” the statement continued.

“RTE is committed to producing home grown Irish content on RTE2 on Monday nights and will continue to do so in 2017.”
