RTE host Aidan Power admits TV show The Hit wasn't a hit with viewers

The first series of song-writing contest The Hit was a miss in the ratings, and now presenter Aidan Power has finally admitted it was a flop with audiences.

The RTE star, who hosts the talent contest with Nicky Byrne, has revealed he hopes producers will make changes to the format so it can be a better show.

“I haven’t had it confirmed but I would love it to come back.

“It didn’t set Ireland alight but it has been sold all over the world. I kind of think that if it had gone out on a Sunday night it would have done much better,” he said.

“If we tweak a few elements, like the other international versions have done, then I think season two will be even better,” he told the Sunday World.

The show sees aspiring songwriters pitching their songs to famous singers, with the winner getting their song released into the charts.
