Roseanne Barr reacts to ABC cancelling her show due to racist tweets

Twitter erupted last night after Roseanne Barr tweeted a series of now deleted tweets about Valerie Jarrett, Obama’s former advisor.

The racist tweets caused ABC to respond rapidly with the station’s president Channing Dungey stating, “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show.”

The actress retweeted people who were upset about the cancellation of the show before making her own statement. She said, “Don’t feel sorry for me, guys!! I just want to apologize to the hundreds of people, and wonderful writers (all liberal) and talented actors who lost their jobs on my show due to my stupid tweet. I will be on Joe Rogan’s podcast Friday.”

The liberal comment appeared to be a jibe and a few of the Twitter users she had been retweeting agreed with her racism.

The actress has since claimed that ambien she was on during her Twitter rant caused the offending tweets as she stated, “I think Joe Rogan is right about ambien. Not giving excuses for what I did(tweeted) but I’ve done weird stuff while on ambien-cracked eggs on the wall at 2am etc.”

Katie Hopkins congratulated the actress for her racist remarks tweeting her to say, “Dear @therealroseanne, I have found the more I am fired, the busier I become. You are headed for greatness. Love Hopkins xx #standstrong”

Her initial tweets that caused the controversy read, “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj.” The initials stood for Valerie Jarrett and when her racism was called out she responded on the platform saying, “Muslims r NOT a race.”

She has since apologised for her “bad joke about her politics and her looks.” The actress also apologised to Valerie but the damage is done as far as ABC are concerned.

She tweeted, “@ValerieJarrett I want to apologize to you. I am very sorry to have hurt you. I hope you can accept this sincere apology!”
