Ray Foley is back on the box to help TV3 take on UTV Ireland with big-budget gameshow

DJ Ray Foley is set to make his return to TV – more than a year after last hosting Take Me Out.

The 98FM star will be presenting a new primetime gameshow for TV3, which is set to be one of their big new upcoming schedule announcements.

He will be fronting The Algorithm – which sees people going up against a machine in a bid to win huge prizes.

The former Today FM presenter hasn’t been seen on the box since early 2013, when he hosted the last series of Take Me Out Ireland.

It is understood that TV3’s new boss has decided against bringing back more Take Me Out in a bid to make the station more highbrow.

TV3 are hoping to use Ray’s new gameshow as part of their bid to compete against new upstart channel UTV Ireland.

They will have to come up with a whole new range of Irish shows to fill a void of Coronation Street and Emmerdale, which UTV Ireland stole off them.

UTV Ireland have already hired Pat Kenny to front a Saturday night chatshow for them.

TV3 will be announcing these new shows at a glitzy launch on Wednesday, to be fronted by Glenda Gilson and Ireland AM’s Mark Cagney.
