Pretty Little Liars stars bid emotional farewell to the show

The cast wrapped filming for the show with emotional messages

Pretty Little Liars stars have finally said goodbye, as filming for the show wrapped for the very last time this week.

The Freeform show has become one of the most popular series of the last decade, with it’s final episodes set to air next year.

The show’s main stars Ashley Benson, Troian Bellisario, Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell and Sasha Pieterse all shared their emotional farewell messages on social media – and they will make you BAWL.

Ashley, who stared as Hanna Marin, was seen teary-eyed on her Snapchat saying goodbye to her co-stars and cast members before posting a long heartfelt message on her Instagram.

“Reflecting on these last seven years in my empty room I called home,” the actress wrote alongside a photo of her head in her hands.

“I will never forget this experience. I was so lucky to work with such amazing people who have affected my life greatly. I am so happy to know they will be my family from here on out.

“To the fans, what can I say other than I love you so much. Thank you for being on this journey with me and giving me so much support.

“I wouldn’t be here without all of you. I’m sad to say bye to Hanna but I’m excited to see what the future holds and I’m so happy to know that all of you will be by my side.”

The cast and crew all received varsity jackets as farewell presents and tucked into a gorgeous tiered cake to celebrate the last 7 seasons.

“Let them eat cake,” Shay, who played Emily Fields, wrote on her Instagram with a snap of herself and her four co-stars rocking their jackets.

The future of Troian’s character Spencer Hastings was left on a cliff hanger in the last episode but the L.A. native also wrapped filming on the last day and gave a meaningful goodbye to the show.

“I have kept so little in this room over the years, by Patti and Lo have been here through all of it,” she wrote on an Instagram post of her dressing room.

“I guess I had hopes it would make it easy to pack up when the end came. Well, it took very little time but nothing about the packing felt easy.

“Goodbye room (and my home for 7 years). Be good to the next girl. Whoever she is.”

Sasha, who starred as the controversial Alison Dilaurentis, also penned a emotional tribute to Pretty Little Liars.

“I can’t believe that the day has come. In a couple of hours I’ll be going to work for the last time at my second home,” she wrote.

“Although this day will be filled with happy and sad tears, I’ll be forever grateful to share them with the ones I’ve come to call family.”

Lucy, who played Aria Montgomery, also shared a snap of the five stars onto her Instagram and admitted she is so proud of what they have all achieved on the show.

“They day has come to say goodbye to my second home, a character that helped shape me and so many people who mean the world to me,” she wrote.

“Bittersweet feelings today, but so proud of what we’ve done.”

Of course the boys also paid tribute to a show that helped create the Pretty Little Liars family too.

Tyler Blackburn, who starred as Hanna’s boyfriend Caleb Rivers, shared a snap in the show’s jacket with a special message.

“Repping Caleb Rivers forever. This is one of the most emotionally challenging days I’ve had in a long time,” he wrote.

“I’m in a fog. Feeling grateful nonetheless. I love my Pretty Little Liars family.”

Keegan Allen, whose character Toby Cavanaugh had many ups and downs on the show, was one of the first main stars to finish filming and also took to Instagram to share his last day on set.

“As I reflect on these years together in my dressing room on stage 6 on the WB lot (apparently James Dean once climbed above it and hid in the rafters) it is silent,” he wrote.

“I am unable to find the words to equate how tremendously emotional I feel. It is unlike anything I could ever explain. I will think about this often, and look back fondly on what we all shared together.

“I can’t even believe it. So grateful for the support of our fans and friends. I will miss this family so very much.”

You can watch all seasons of Pretty Little Liars on Netflix with new episodes set to air on the site the same week it airs in the U.S.
