The production is receiving a lot of criticism

An online petition has been created to stop the release of a controversial Netflix Original called Insatiable.

The series has been accused of ‘body-shaming’, after the trailer was released earlier this month.

The programme follows the story of a teenage girl who has her mouth wired closed after being punched – and loses weight as a result of not being able to eat. The teenager, Patty, then seeks revenge on the bullies who had taunted her because of her weight.

The Good Place actress, Jameela Jamil, took to Twitter to express her opinion on the new programme.

The petition to stop the programme from airing has over 100,000 signatures, and the figure keeps rising.

The programme is described as a dark comedy, but people are not seeing the funny side of the show.

Debby Ryan, the actress who plays the show’s main character, Patty, has showed her support for the production on Twitter.

“I want more women to keep telling their stories and through that, face the gutting realities that bog us down every day. I’m grateful to be on a show by whip-smart female creators that aims to dissect the insidious pressures we place on young women,” the actress wrote.

The 25-year-old isn’t the only person supporting the production, with one fan tweeting that nobody has to watch the show if they don’t want to.
