Netflix bosses have revealed Baby Reindeer creator Richard Gadd has a deal for a new show on the platform.
In July, it was reported the comedian is set to bag a huge deal to create more TV shows in an attempt to stop him from creating shows with a rival streaming service.
Now, the co-CEO Ted Sarandos has announced they have officially signed a deal with the platform for another series.
Speaking at The Royal Television Society convention, Ted confirmed the news: “We finished our first look deal with Richard Gadd – he’s a brilliant storyteller and told a brilliant story.”
“I’m very proud of Richard and very proud of the story that he told – Baby Reindeer is his story, and he told his story.”
This follows the hit show taking home several awards at the 76th Emmy Awards on Sunday night.
The hit Netflix show nabbed six awards at the ceremony including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series category.
While accepting his award for Best Writing for a Limited or Anthropology Series, his first of the night, Richards shared an inspiring message about how his life has changed since the events the show was based on.
Standing on stage wearing a kilt, the Scottish star confessed: “This is the stuff of dreams.”
“Look, 10 years ago I was down and out. I never ever thought I’d get my life together.”
He continued: “I never ever thought I’d be able to rectify myself what had happened to me and get myself back on my feet again, and then here I am, just over a decade later, picking up one of the biggest writing awards in television.”
“I don’t mean that to sound arrogant. I mean it as encouragement for anyone who’s going through a difficult time right now to persevere.”
“I don’t know much about this life, I don’t know why we are here, none of that, but I do know that nothing lasts forever, and no matter how bad it gets, it always gets better.”
“So if you’re struggling, keep going – keep going and I promise you things will be okay.”
The win followed his co-star Jessica Gunning taking the gong for the Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series for her role as Martha Scott.
The actress thanked Richard for trusting her with the role, admitting: “I am so incredibly proud to be a part of Baby Reindeer.”
“My biggest thanks has to go to Mr Richard Gadd, I tried so many times to put into words what working on Baby Reindeer meant to me and I fail every time, so I’m going to sing,” she joked.
Jessica finished: “Thank you for trusting me to be your Martha, I will never, ever forget her or you or this.”
The series landed on Netflix earlier this year and left viewers glued to their seats for the whole eight episodes.
The limited series, starring Richard Gadd and Jessica Ganning, depicts the real-life story of the actor’s experience with a female stalker.
