Gillian Anderson is set to play the role of Margaret Thatcher in season four of The Crown.
Her casting was officially announced on Twitter, and they also revealed that the show’s fourth season is now in production.
Speaking about taking on the role, Gillian said: “I am so excited to be joining the cast and crew of The Crown and to have the opportunity to portray such a complicated and controversial woman.”
“Thatcher was undoubtedly formidable but I am relishing exploring beneath the surface and, dare I say, falling in love with the icon who, whether we loved or despised, defined an era.”

The news comes months before season three of The Crown will premiere on Netflix on November 17, 2019.
The new season will star Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II, Tobias Menzies as Prince Phillip, Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret, and Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles.
