Love/Hate's Lynn Rafferty insists too many people DIE for series to possibly glamorise crime

Love/Hate’s Lynn Rafferty has insisted the RTE series isn’t glamourising gangland crime, adding: “Every week someone is being shot”.

The TV star plays Nadine, the girlfriend of Aido, in the show – and is set to make a breakout performance in tomorrow night’s episode.

Her role sees her drawing on her childhood, where she accompanied her community activist father on anti-drug marches with the late Tony Gregory TD in Dublin.

But Lynn doesn’t feel that it makes people thing gangland crime is sexier than the reality.

She added: “I guess because it’s on TV, some people are always going to say that. But every week someone is being shot.

“Someone’s looking over their shoulder and watching their friends die. I wouldn’t call that glamour.

“Personally, I’ve never met anyone like the gangsters on the show, and I’d probably run a mile if I ever did.”

Now Lynn tells the Irish Independent that she can’t wait for her drug-smuggling character to spread her wings on tomorrow’s episode.

She added: “What I really like about Nadine. is that she has this amazing, dry Dublin wit. But she’s also her own woman.

“She does have a big storyline coming up this year that’ll show us the extent to which she is prepared to stand up for herself.

“I can’t wait for everybody to see it. But unfortunately, I can’t say any more about it for now.”
