Love/Hate's John Connors reveals he met real life KILLER ahead of murder scene

Actor John Connors has revealed he met up with a real life killer ahead of filming his latest scenes in Love/Hate.

John’s character Patrick murdered the man who tried to kill him and shot his son in last week’s episode.

The actor, who is a settled traveller, said he put a lot of work into his performance.

“I did an awful lot of work in prepping the character. I spoke with somebody who took a man’s life,” he admitted.

Intense: John’s character had a rough ride last week | RTE

“It was the real thing. He wasn’t a sociopath. It was the real thing. And I asked him how he
felt about it.

“And he didn’t feel good. It gave me some insight into it. He regretted it. And he said he would
regret it ’til the end of his days’.

“But it happened. He was out of prison when I spoke to him,” he told the Sunday Independent.

“It was just something that happened and he served his time for it. It was emotional talking
about it with him.

Real: John wanted his performance to be realistic | RTE

“I thought I was getting around to understanding the impact of killing a man until I got an insight from him and it really just clicked then.

“It made perfect sense,” he added.

John admitted that after speaking to the real life killer it made his performance on Love/Hate much more realistic.

“It was the same way with him [as in the programme],” he explained.

Dark: John said his performance was darker | VIPIRELAND.COM

“It wasn’t as slick and as cool as someone in a movie killing a man. It was a struggle. That is the reality of it.

“It made the scene bigger and darker because that is what death is. With murder, instead of
having a cool, quick death, having a character who has a conscience, and decides to do it, makes it real.”
