Love/Hate are hoping to film scenes from the new show in Belfast Zoo.
Producers have submitted a request to Belfast City Council, which will be decided on Thursday.
It comes after Love/Hate was turned away from Dublin Zoo because it was too busy, although they did film exterior shots.
Bosses are hoping to film a number of scenes inside the chimpanzee enclosure with a crew of 40 people, their application reveals.

However they have said it could be limited to just half that, and it won’t require Belfast Zoo to close down.
It said they are are happy to “work around the general public” and it will “generate increased marketing opportunities of Belfast Zoo in the RTE region.”
Scenes are understood to involve Nidge, Aido, a character played by Saoirse Ronan’s dad Paul, and another actor.
