Love Island fans defend Hugo after new girl Chloe’s ‘mean’ comments

Love Island fans have been defending Hugo Hammond after new girl Chloe Burrows’ “mean” comments about him.

In the lead-up to the recoupling on Tuesday night, the girls asked Chloe who she had her eye on.

The 25-year-old admitted she found four of the five boys attractive, but couldn’t remember the name of the boy she wasn’t interested in.

She asked: “What’s his name? Diego? … he’s not my type at all.”

In the same episode, Kaz Kamwi asked Chloe who she would like to share a bed with, to which Chloe replied: “Hugo”, before quickly laughing it off saying: “No I’m joking.”

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote:  “Leave Hugo alone. He is shy!!!.”

Another tweeted: “Why is Chloe joking about sharing a bed with Hugo? Rude.”

A third viewer jumped to Hugo’s defense, penning :”Can they stop being mean to Hugo?”

Hugo quickly became a fan favourite after the first episode, and viewers were shocked that no one stepped forward to couple up with him.

One Twitter user asked: “Why did no one step forward for my man Hugo, he’s the fittest one there?”

Another wrote: “me crying bc no one stepped forward for Hugo bless his cotton socks.”

Fans have also been comparing Hugo to 2018 Islander Dr Alex George, who was also the sweetheart of the villa.

The new season of Love Island continues tonight on Virgin Media One at 9pm.
