Louis Walsh has admitted that he was delighted that the last series of the X Factor had lower ratings.
The Mayo native had judged on every season of the reality contest except for last year’s show.
“I was checking the ratings every week and saw it was getting lower,” he said.

With an average of 8.2 million people watching each week and the winner Louisa Johnson only reaching number nine in the charts, the show’s ratings plummeted.
“I was delighted. I watched the show last year and I didn’t think it was as good as it used to be,” the manager told Newsbeat.
“I thought there was something missing.”
Louis was so passionate about the show’s bad ratings that he would call Simon up and scream down the phone at him.
