Louis Walsh has admitted that X Factor bosses didn’t want him back – and wanted a younger face.
The Mayo man, 62, has been the only judge for all 11 series of the ITVÂ show, which returns on Saturday.
However Louis admits he was on “borrowed time” and only survived being axed because of Simon Cowell’s insistence he returned.
“Simon wanted me back this year. I don’t think ITV did,” he said.

“But Simon and I work well together and he knows that I love my job and I love music. I’m on borrowed time and I realise that.”
It comes after Louis admitted yesterday that he loves working with Simon because they gel so well.
He added: “Honestly Simon just makes me laugh. But it’s not as if we sit around laughing all day.
“When I used to work with him with Westlife he would always say you can do better.”
