Louis Walsh glad to be back on X Factor after Ronan Keating 'tried to steal my job'

Louis Walsh has accused Ronan Keating of launching a “blatant” campaign to steal his X Factor job.

The Mayo pop boss said it was a “mean feat” he was back on the ITV and TV3 show after so many were trying to get his role on the panel.

“I’m still standing, which is no mean feat when you think of all the people who’ve been chasing my job for the past year,” he said.

“Simon Cowell is a very loyal person and he knows that I work hard, and he wanted me back even though there were a lot of people who wanted my job.”

And Louis especially singled out former protege Ronan Keating for claiming he wanted the role after time on Australian X Factor.

“Ronan Keating launched the most public – the most blatant – campaign to get my job,” he told the Star.

“What he doesn’t seem to realise is that he was never in the running for it at all. He never will be. He’s just not relevant in today’s music business.

“[Taking up his West End role] is probably the right move. If he works hard he could be the next Michael Ball. He’s Michael Ball or Daniel O’Donnell.”
