Kathryn Thomas has admitted that she used to be on TV so much that people told her that they “can’t get away” from her.

After the Voice of Ireland was axed, the Carlow native has revealed that she found fronting Operation Transformation and The Voice at the same time was “a lot” – so now, she’s happy to be taking a break.

“I love presenting and I love big entertainment shows.

“For me, doing Operation Transformation in September with the celebrities, then doing the main show proper post-Christmas is a lot,” she told The Irish Mail on Sunday.

Cooling off: Kathryn says fronting two RTÉ shows at the same time was an ‘overload’ | VIPIRELAND.COM

The 37-year-old said she couldn’t even consider taking on RTÉ’s new show Dancing With The Stars because it would have been an “overload” for audiences.

“I couldn’t contemplate another year where I would do Dancing With The Stars or The Voice at the same time of year as well because it is just too much. It was really tough for the audience as well.

“I was on Operation Transformation during the week, then The Voice on Sunday nights at the same time that the repeat of Operation Transformation was on. So it was just an overload and people said it to me that they can’t get away from me,” she explained.

Balance: Kathryn wants to spread her work out more evenly | VIPIRELAND.COM

Now, Kathryn is working on spreading her work with RTÉ out more evenly, so that she has time for her hugely popular Pure Results bootcamp as well.

“So I am working with RTÉ now to sensibly look at spreading myself out a bit more evenly across the schedule as opposed to front-loading everything from September to May. It is better for me and my physical and mental well-being.”

The presenter also revealed that she’s already signed a development deal for her own reality TV show on RTÉ. The show is said to be a new outdoors challenge series, that could potentially be reproduced globally for RTÉ.

“We are in development on a new format which I have created with another production company. My company, Aquarius Productions, and another one, are in bed with RTÉ for a new show in September 2017.

“I can’t really say what it is yet because when you get development money you don’t know if it is going to get commissioned. But it is exciting to be working in an area that I am excited about.

“It is an active reality TV type thing and I am involved with the creative side as well, which is amazing,” she said.

While her new show will be based in the greater outdoors, the fitness fanatic isn’t comparing herself to Bear Grylls just yet.

“I wouldn’t say I am the new Bear Grylls, I won’t be eating kangaroo anus or drinking wee out of a sock. I saw last week he got Courteney Cox to eat dead sheep out in Kerry. I won’t go that far but it is an exciting time,” she added.
